The Gut Detox Program – GDRx

Your Foundation for Better Health

Your body has an amazing capacity to heal itself. Your body has an amazing capacity to heal itself. But many factors can interfere — especially in today’s world. Poor diet, traumatic experiences, and environmental problems introduce toxins that complicate the natural healing process.

Your liver, kidneys, and colon work to remove unwanted toxins. But over time, they will build up and affect your daily wellness.

Excess toxins are a common underlying cause for many serious health conditions. These include heart disease, diabetes, and chronic pain or infection. Toxins also affect mental clarity, digestion, weight, inflammation, and more.

With the help of a Forum Health Utah detox program, you can remove toxin buildup and cleanse your system — with far-reaching benefits for body, mind, and soul.

The Five Keys to Forum Health’s Detox Program

Removing toxins is a natural part of your body’s elimination process — necessary to ensure healthy liver, kidney, and colon function. It occurs daily and relies on having the right nutrients in your body. When that’s not happening, you need to take corrective measures to aid the process.

Our detox program will give your body what it needs to remove waste. You’ll discover foods that are causing issues and rid your body of toxins.

1. Elimination Diet

Make smart food and drink choices focused on reducing inflammation by removing the most common triggers of allergy or food sensitivity.

2. Liver Detoxification

During the first two phases of detox, nutrients are strategically dosed to “bag up” existing toxic burden. It can then be removed by your colon, kidney, and skin.

3. Bowel Movement Insurance

Regular, spontaneous, and complete bowel movements are essential to effective detoxification. We refer to this as getting the garbage out.

4. Restoration & Repair

Detoxification takes lots of energy. We must replenish the nutrients we use during the process. The gut lining also requires special nutrients to rebuild and fortify its barriers so it can once again protect you against “garbage in” risks.

5. Food Reintroduction

By following the scientific method for reintroducing foods into your diet, you’ll identify the triggers that secretly fuel your health issues.

Understanding Toxic Buildup

Toxic buildup happens to everyone. There are three contributing factors: nutrition, environment, and trauma. As you work through your detox program, you’ll make changes in each area.

Our ancestors dined on fresh vegetables, nuts, fruits, seeds, and occasional meat and grains. But the modern diet often includes over-processed foods. While these can be convenient and tasty, it’s no surprise that diseases of lifestyle — like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune conditions — are on the rise.

We’re all exposed to environmental toxins that can disrupt our sensitive biological systems. Naturally occurring compounds include lead, mercury, radon, and formaldehyde. Man-made chemicals include pesticides and bisphenol A (BPA).

BPA is widely used to manufacture polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins in food and drink packaging. BPA exposure occurs when the chemical leaches from packaging into food and water — especially when plastic containers are washed, heated, or stressed.

Bodily trauma can be physical (sports injury, cut, accident, or surgery). It can also be mental or emotional (death of a loved one, stress, public speaking).

Our body’s immune system responds to trauma by sounding off inflammation alarms. Hormones and chemicals then flood the area to heal the injury.

This is good, unless the trauma lasts longer or happens more often than it should. For example, something that was meant to last a short period — like losing sleep during a fun vacation — becomes more frequent. The constant alarm signals cause your body to tire and become dysfunctional.

How Your Body Removes Toxins

Most people know the environment can be toxic. But most of us don’t think about the amount of additional toxins — or garbage — we produce internally. Garbage is made when we digest food, fight infections, exercise, manage stress, and perform other everyday bodily functions.

Whether from the inside or outside, all toxins must get detoxified and eliminated. Water-soluble toxins are removed easily through urine, stool, and sweat. But removing fat-soluble toxins is trickier. These become water-soluble through a two-step process. After this biotransformation, they’re also eliminated through urine, stool, or sweat.

But toxins can get stuck in your body. If the two-step pathway doesn’t have what it needs to do these tasks, biotransformation doesn’t occur. Then toxins can trigger health issues that affect your quality of life.

Garbage Inside & Out

Toxins, or garbage — from sources like pesticides, pollution, chemical food additives, alcohol, caffeine, and medications — come in from the outside (exotoxins). Other garbage, such as byproducts of daily internal biochemical reactions (metabolites), is created inside and builds up over time.
